Shama Mohamed’s claim prompted the saffron party media cell head to compare her remark with senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s absurd statements

Congress leader Shama Mohamed has claimed that Mathematics was introduced to humankind via Islam, which has sparked a fresh row, prompting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to react.
Mohamed, in a recent interview with news agency ANI, said, “Math has come through Islam.”
Her claim prompted the saffron party media cell head to compare her remark with senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s absurd statements, saying, “I think she has decided that Rahul Gandhi alone can’t make all the absurd statements in the Congress.”
Mohamed, who called Indian cricket star Rohit Sharma fat in a now-deleted social media post, was backing bowler Mohammed Shami amid the row over Muslim cleric’s criticism of him for not observing ‘Roza’ during Ramzan.
The controversy started when Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Bareilvi, president of the All India Muslim Jamaat, called cricketer Mohammed Shami “a criminal” for not observing ‘Roza’. This comment was made after the bowler was seen drinking what appeared to be an energy drink during the ICC Champions Trophy semifinal against Australia.
In defence of Shami, Congress leader Shama Mohamed expressed her support on Thursday, stating that in Islam, “no one insists that you must fast while playing a sport.” She further explained, “In Islam, there is a significant provision during Ramadan. When we are traveling, we are not required to fast. Mohammed Shami is traveling and not at home, playing a sport where he could become very thirsty. No one demands that you must fast while playing sports… What matters is your actions. Islam is a very scientific religion,” Shama Mohamed told news agency ANI.
