Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar gave rise to a fresh political controversy after he claimed that the use of mobile phones would lead to the destruction of Earth in 10 years. Soon after the Chief Minister’s remark, his former ally and leader of opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, took a dig at his statement, calling it “conservative and anti-technology”.
“From an environmental perspective, the Bihar assembly is going paperless, and members are encouraged to ask questions online.”
“If a member has to ask a supplementary question, they need to refer to a mobile or tablet. But Bihar has a computer-illiterate Chief Minister who is against technology, youth, students, and women,” Yadav said.
Further launching an attack on the Chief Minister, Tejashwi Yadav said that it is very unfortunate and condemnable that Bihar has such a conservative Chief Minister.
Nitish Kumar’s Phone Remark
During Question Hour, Kumar Krishna Mohan alias Suday Yadav was seen using his mobile phone while asking a question regarding PDS dealers. Upon noticing this, CM Nitish Kumar raised a strong objection and reminded the House that mobile phones are already banned inside the Assembly.
Addressing Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav, the CM demanded strict action, saying, “It is already banned in the House. I request you (Speaker) that whoever comes with a mobile phone should be thrown out of the House.”

“These people are talking on mobile now. Earlier, it was banned. Now, everyone is talking with a mobile. Is this any good?” Nitish said. “Why is this happening? It started 5-6 years ago, and the use of mobile phones will end the Earth within 10 years,” he added.
