Days after Congress leader Laxman Singh made remarks on Rahul Gandhi and Robert Vadra, party president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday expelled him for six years, citing “anti-party activities”.
The party’s move comes weeks after Singh dubbed Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi’s husband, Robert Vadra, “naive”, claiming that the country is “suffering the consequences of their immaturity”.
Announcing his expulsion from the party, Congress said, “Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has expelled Laxman Singh, Former MLA, Madhya Pradesh, from the primary membership of the party for a period of six years due to his anti-party activities”.

What Had Laxman Singh Said About Rahul Gandhi, Robert Vadra?
Days after the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, in which 26 civilians were killed, the Congress leader had lashed out at the remarks by Robert Vadra — who said that the terrorists gave a message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that “Muslims are feeling weakened” in India — stating that the businessman’s statement “poses a threat to the security of the country”.
He had also claimed that Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah “may be in cahoots” with terrorists.
“Robert Vadra’s statement that the terrorists attacked because they did not allow Muslims to offer namaz on the road is not only irresponsible but also a statement that poses a threat to the security of the country. I am saying all this in front of the camera, so that no one is confused. Congress should think 10 times before speaking, otherwise the public will answer in the elections,” he had said.
“Rahul Gandhi and Robert Vadra are naive. The country is suffering the consequences of their immaturity,” he added.
He had then highlighted that he did not mind getting expelled from the party for his statements as the national security was paramount to him.
Robert Vadra On Pahalgam Terror Attack
Two days after the attack, Robert Vadra had stoked controversy with his remarks in which he claimed that the terrorists checked the IDs of the people at Baisaran meadows on April 22 before shooting them dead as “there’s a divide” in the country between Hindus and Muslims.
“I feel terrible, and my deepest condolences are for the people who have died in this terrorist act…In our country, we see that this government will talk about Hindutva, and the minorities feel uncomfortable and troubled…If you dissect this terrorist act that took place, if they (terrorists) are looking at people’s identity, why are they doing this? Because there’s a divide that has come about in our country with Hindus and Muslims,” Vadra said.
“This will make these kinds of organisations feel that Hindus are making a problem for all the Muslims. Looking at identities and then killing somebody, that’s a message to the PM, because Muslims are feeling weakened. The minorities are feeling weakened…This has to be coming from the top that we feel secure and secular in our country, and we will not see this kind of act happening,” he added.
