The Bharatiya Janata Party could pick its new national president in July or even earlier, party sources have indicated to News18.
The BJP is first expected to conclude the election of new presidents in key states, including Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, within the next seven to 10 days, they added.
Following this, the process to elect the new national president will commence, likely concluding by the end of this month or early July.
A party source confirmed that the national president will be chosen by consensus, in keeping with the BJP’s tradition.
The source also explained that the process had been paused in April following the Pahalgam attack and the subsequent Operation Sindoor.
With the monsoon session of Parliament scheduled for July 21 to August 12, the announcement of the new BJP president is anticipated before it begins.
Several names have been circulating as potential candidates, including union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and ML Khattar, and Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
However, the party has a history of unexpected appointments, as demonstrated by several chief ministerial selections.
