Delhi assembly: The richest among them is BJP’s Karnail Singh, who defeated three-time MLA Satyendar Jain in Shakur Basti. Singh has wealth of about Rs 260 crore

In the newly formed Delhi assembly, all except nine new MLAs have assets worth over Rs 1 crore, a new report published on Sunday said.
The average of assets per winning candidate in the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 is Rs 22.04 crore, up from Rs 14.29 crore in 2020.
The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Delhi Election Watch have analysed the self-sworn affidavits of all 70 winning candidates in the Delhi 2025 Assembly Elections.
As per the report, 61 MLAs have assets worth over Rs 1 crore and three of these, all from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), have assets over Rs 100 crore.
The richest among them is BJP’s Karnail Singh, who defeated three-time MLA Satyendar Jain in Shakur Basti. Singh has wealth of about Rs 260 crore. BJP’s Manjinder Singh Sirsa who won from Rajouri Garden was the second richest with Rs 248 crore. Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, who defeated AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi, is the third richest, with wealth over Rs 115 crore.
“The total assets of 70 winning candidates are worth Rs 1,542 crore. The average of assets per winning candidates in the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 is Rs 22.04 crore. The average of assets per MLA in the Delhi Assembly Elections 2020 was Rs 14.29 crore. The average assets per winning candidate for 48 BJP MLAs is Rs 28.59 crore and 22 AAP MLAs have average assets of Rs 7.74 crore,” the report shows.
In the list of top 10 richest MLAs, only one was from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Ram Singh Netaji, the Badarpur MLA from AAP, has wealth of Rs 89 crore. The remaining nine richest MLAs are from the BJP.
AAP’s Burari MLA Sanjeev Jha is ranked the lowest, with assets worth Rs 14 lakh.
The other non-crorepati MLAs are AAP’s Prem Chauhan (Deoli; Rs 16.49 lakh); BJP’s Ravi Kant (Trilokpuri; Rs 20.47 lakh); AAP’s Som Dutt (Sadar Bazar; Rs 21.20 lakh); AAP’s Vishesh Ravi (Karol Bagh; Rs 41.47 lakh); AAP’s Kuldeep Kumar (Kondli; Rs 53 lakh); AAP’s Veer Singh Dhingan (Seema Puri; Rs 58.37 lakh); BJP’s Kailash Gangwal (Madipur; Rs 76.79 lakh); and AAP’s Atishi (Kalkaji; Rs 76.93 lakh).
SEVEN MLAS BELOW THE AGE OF 40
Becoming MLA at the age of 31, Umang Bajaj from Rajinder Nagar is the youngest of them all. The top three youngest MLAs are from the BJP and are aged 31 and 32. Trilokpuri MLA Ravi Kant, 32, and Matiala MLA Sandeep Sehrawat (32) are the other two MLAs.
The remaining four MLAs in the below-40 age group are from AAP. Matia Mahal AAP MLA Aaley Mohammed Iqbal is 34 years old while Kondli MLA Kuldeep Kumar is 35. Deoli MLA Prem Chauhan is 37 and Patel Nagar MLA Pravesh Ratn is 39.
A total of three MLAs are above the age of 70 – Tri Nagar BJP MLA Tilak Ram Gupta, 73; Seema Puri AAP MLA Veer Singh Dhingan, 71, and Vishwas Nagar BJP MLA Om Prakash Sharma, 71.

FIVE WOMEN IN THE HOUSE
In the house of 70 members, only five are women. Atishi is the only woman candidate of AAP who won this time, while the remaining four are from the BJP – Rekha Gupta (Shalimar Bagh); Poonam Sharma (Wazirpur); Neelam Pahelwan (Najafgarh); and Shikha Roy (Greater Kailash).
ALMOST HALF OF MLAS FACING CRIMINAL CASES
Of the 70 MLAs, 31 (44%) have declared criminal cases against themselves, down from 43 in 2020, the report shows.
A total of 17 (24%) MLAs have declared serious criminal cases against themselves. In 2020, 37 MLAs were facing serious criminal cases. AAP’s Amanatullah Khan is facing charges of attempt to murder.
The report also shows that 16 (33%) out of 48 MLAs from the BJP and 15 (68%) out of the 22 MLAs from the AAP have declared criminal cases against themselves. Seven from the BJP and 10 from the AAP are facing serious criminal cases.
