BJP’s giant slayer Parvesh Verma, who dethroned Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal and won the New Delhi constituency, on Sunday took a poetic jib at Delhi’s former chief minister’s challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to defeat him in this lifetime.

In a rally, Kejriwal had once said that PM Modi would not be able to defeat the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi in this lifetime.

However, his words became untrue when the BJP secured a stunning victory in the 2025 Delhi assembly elections, winning 48 seats and toppling the ruling Aam Aadmi Party.

What was more shocking for AAP was Kejriwal’s defeat in the New Delhi constituency at the hands of Verma.

Verma on Sunday took to X to share a video portraying Kejriwal’s defeat.

Parvesh Verma Mocks Kejriwal For ‘Believing He Was God’

Taking a poetic jibe at Kejriwal’s challenge to PM Modi, Verma wrote in the caption, “A person who was seated on the throne here, He had great faith in his being God.”

In the video, Kejriwal challenged PM Modi to defeat the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi in this lifetime. This was followed by the prime minister’s speech before the elections in which he said, “Aapda nahi sahenge, badal kar rahenge (Will not tolerate AAP’s disastrous rule, will bring change).”

Verma, who won the New Delhi constituency by 4089 votes and has emerged as the giant slayer, is among the top contenders for Delhi’s chief ministerial position.

Parvesh Verma is the son of Sahib Singh Verma who was Delhi’s chief minister from February 1996 to October 1998.
